We are a family with kids and are interested in spending some time (probably like a week or so) in Cleveland towards the end of the summer to get a better idea of the community, neighborhoods, shuls, so that we can consider if it makes sense for us to relocate there next year. Any ideas of suggestions on best way to do this? Any motels that are in walking distance of the community? Any ideas of ways to hook up with people in the community? Thanks for any ideas you can give us.

We did this (live in Cleveland now). You'll want to make appointments in advance to tour HAC and YDT. Sign up to get Local Jewish News sent as a daily email so you know some of what's going on in the community and can maybe plan on attending an event.
No hotels are super close. There's a hotel in Legacy Village that would be walkable to the frum part of university Heights/Beachwood. Not sure about how usable it is on Shabbos though. You could ask them about options to get in and out without activating electricity.
You would want to set up an appointment with a realtor so you can talk about house options. The Socher Group, Ruti Wolf, Gavi Septon are all realtors. Shoshana Socher has the most experience I would say.
