Hi Ladies,

I am hoping someone can assist with the following inquiry:

My parents are mostly retired and in their low 70's. They have an apartment in Jerusalem. My mother has had a lifelong dream of making aliyah. My father is not ready/willing to take that step for a number of reasons, including the fact that they still have one unmarried child (older single). Consequently, my mother tries to spend at least half her time in Israel and half in the US, with my father and sibling joining her for parts of the time.

One of the big things holding my father back from spending more time there is their unfamiliarity with the healthcare system. Medicare Part D will cover some expenses, but they have no idea how access to the networks, hospitals, clinics, and specialists work.

I am seeking information about what options US citizens have with regard to participation in a Kupah, and whether there are any organizations that can help me with information in this regard (specifically about the medical/health referral and access questions).

Thanks in advance for any leads!

(Anon due to personal info above)

Both meuchedet and maccabi in the Ramat Eshkol area have been very active lately in trying to attract the Anglo crowd. (Including all the Kollel couples who are on student visas). They both have liaisons working for them to bridge the gap and help any English speakers. The liaison for Meuchedet is Gitty Weinbaum, I have her contact info if you need. I do not remember the name of the man who works for Maccabi, but I think he is very good. I know that Meuchedet has many elderly English-speaking members.

Bhatzlacha!
