Can I keep bagels out of the freezer for a day and a half? I want them to still taste fresh.

Freeze them as soon as you come home from the store (make sure they're not still hot or they'll get soggy).

If you seal each one into a separate little baggie, you may be able to find little spaces in the freezer.

Yup.
If you really don't have room, wrap in paper bag and then in Ziploc. Squeeze out all air and seal.
But they'll be hard when it's time to eat them.
