I suspect my baby is lactose intolerant. I would like a confirmation with a specialist before I permenantly take him off of dairy.
Do I take him to an allergist or a gastroenterologist?

Honestly, I’d take him off dairy( and yourself if you are nursing) for a good 3 weeks and see how he reacts. Then slowly reintroduce it and see if he acts differently etc.

I highly disagree with that statement. Let me tell you a story:
I once spoke to a mother who had two children covered in horrific rashes. She couldn't figure out what had happened. They had both originally had small patches of eczema, but she feared steroids so she never used what the doctor gave her.
Instead, she went to her aunt, who is widely respected as a top kinesiologist. She brought along a tube of Chinese cream and asked if it was safe to use.
The aunt "tested" it and said it was fine.
Well, now those children look like burn victims, because Chinese cream is NOT fine. It is packed with super potent steroids, and she had used the cream many times, chasing the rashes as they began to spread.
If kinesiology can "test" a cream for safety and miss a super potent steroid, well, that tells me everything I need to know about kinesiology.
She might have been better off using the steroid from the doctor, if he had given a mild potency with correct terms of use.

OP here
So his symptoms do not resemble an allergy. No rashes or breakouts or runny noses.
He just has bad diarrhea and the worst diaper rashes. I took him off of dairy, and he cleared up almost immediately afterward. And every time I introduce milk or a dairy product, his diarrhea and rash comes back.

Sounds more like a GI issue, if he is not having hives, rashes, swelling, breathing or immediate vomiting/cramping reactions.

No delayed (around 2 hours) vomiting, right? And the diarrhea, is like an overwhelming amount of pampers he goes through? Is it a weird yellow color?

So keep him off dairy for now. Simple as that.

Gi it seems to be a stomach issue. A good gi would refer you to an allergist if necessary.

sounds more like lactose intolerance than an allergy. Keep him off milk until he turns two and then try again.
My pediatrician told me that allergy testing is not always accurate. If you see something doesn't agree with the child, what difference does it make if he is allergic or not? Just stop giving it!

Milk allergies in babies sometimes look like this, rather than the traditional allergic symptoms. Lactose intolerance in a baby is extremely unusual - breastmilk also has lactose. I would assume it's an allergy, and start there.

Yes, this. If he was lactose intolerant he would react to your breastmilk as well. I would go to an allergist first and do testing. Testing is much more accurate nowadays than even 5 years ago. If it's negative, move on to a GI.

This is not true. I've had 3 kids who had no problem breastfeeding, 1 of them till past age 2, yet were lactose intolerant. But, they only had symptoms from drinking straight up milk, cheese was fine.
The symptoms sounded like what OP describes, very loose stools.
So I switched to Lactaid milk, as per the advice of the pediatrician, and the problem was solved. So far, 2 of them outgrew it after a few years.
Eta that they were around 15 or 18 months when this started.
