We aim for 8:30 which ends up being 9

Takes kids another 30-45 min till they wind down and fall asleep.

Two girls sleep together. One dd is going into 3rd grade and the other dd is going into 5th. They both go to bed at the same time.

Younger dd wakes up fine in the morning/ not tired. Older dd is almost always tired in the morning. They get the same amount of sleep.

My 4th grader had a bedtime of 8:30 this past year on a school night. Ideally she'd be in bed before that reading and 8:30 was lights out. I'll have to think about what her bedtime should be this year for 5th grade.

We have a class mother WhatsApp group and one of the moms conducted an informal poll about bedtimes because her daughter was also complaining that all her friends got to stay up later. It turned out that she was a little on the earlier end but plenty of girls had the same bedtime or only slightly later. I guess at that age even 15 minutes is a big deal.

8:45 shower
9:00 bedtime

But somehow most nights it ends up being 10:00 with older brother.

but I find 9:00 is a good time. Otherwise he is really tired, and he knows it.

It's cultural, right? Smile Kids here also go to bed very late. They usually come home from school, have a snack, play or whatever, eat around 8-9, then take a shower and bed.
