I thought salmon and sweet wild rice with craisins. High quality proteins and starches, with lots to drink.

Also grapes. They keep you hydrated.

I find salmon and fish in general to make me more thirsty. I don't Love room temperature chicken.
Any creative ideas?

Moist grilled chicken cutlets, thinly sliced on the diagonal before fanning over a salad is delicious served at room temperature.

Sliced hardboiled eggs are also delicious over a salad. Or quarter them for an egg, avocado & tomato salad. Deviled eggs.

Can you make schnitzel and put it on the blech on shabbos?

The rice sounds good. Do you have a recipe?

I was told you can't reheat chicken because it has moisture.
Maybe I'll try the grilled chicken idea. Does it get congealed at all?

Not if you put it away once cooled off. It's grilled, there shouldn't be any liquid that congeals.

There was a recipe in Hamodia for jeweled rice a long time ago that I base it on from memory.

I basically make the rice, then I sautee thin peeled strips of carrots with whatever else I think goes. A little bit of purple onion, slivered almonds, and I don't remember if I sautee the craisins or add them at the end. I add honey to the sauteed mixture and mix it into the rice, adding spices. I think that's basically it.

I’m going to eat what I always do. Some sort of protein, some sort of vegetable and drink lots of water. I’m also going to take salt pills as I do daily anyways because on low carb, I don’t retain water which means faster dehydration without the salt. I fast nearly every day ( with water and coffee) so this, I know from last yk won’t be such a big deal. It’s the lack of liquid that’ll hurt. I’ll probably stay in bed all day. I might start drinking after the fast but end the food fast on Monday when I get up.

Andrea-that’s so interesting. I’ve been very low carb for about a year. I fast well but this last one I felt so drained. I wonder if it’s the low carb connection. If I eat brown rice before the fast, would that help? I also plan on watermelon , salmon, grapes and dates. ( which is not at all how I usually eat!!) what do you think?

Thanks for reminding me about dates!
