To be honest I just heard of this phone for the first time. It looks okay. The question is why people aren't buying it. You also have to make sure the gsm and bands are compatible with your phone service company and if you want to use it overseas such as israel or Europe find out which bands those use.
I bought a j730 pro for $270 its on sale for cheaper at bhphotovideo.com and mines does work in Israel. In general I'd encourage people to buy LG, Samsung, iPhone, the companies that are more well-known

It's supposed to be an amazing phone, and people say it's a steal for this price, even more so if you can combine with the 20% off AMEX offer. The only concerns I read about it on Slickdeals are that some people have issues with the signal strength on T-mobile, and also that the company that makes it is for sale, so its future is somewhat uncertain. But it's supposed to be an amazing phone for an even more amazing price.

I was debating about this so much today. I actually placed the order, then did some more research, and then decided to cancel the order. The reason I decided to cancel was because of the company's unknown future, so I'm not sure for how much longer they will be updating the phone. Another few reasons why I decided not to try: bad camera reviews, no headphone jack, and no expandable storage (even though it does come with a decent amount of storage, so if not for the other reasons, I'd definitely look away on the storage con).

Just to add though, it really does look like a great phone and if the things I mentioned to you don't bother you then you're getting a great deal!
To each person different parts of the phone is what matters, so just see if what matters to you in a phone is there.

I have an essential phone, although I'm not entirely sure if it's that exact model. I've been using it full time since April.Overall, I have no complaints with it. It's a little annoying that it takes a specialized cord, not the standard micro-usb. I don't listen to headphones enough to make the lack of a headphone jack a big issue, and the phone did come with a converter. I think the quality of my photos is just fine, certainly as good as I'm going to get with a cell phone. We're on the Koodo network.
