I was there today and saw they had great stuff . Wondering why expensive products like oils and nut butters are so cheap there ?

1) Almost everything they sell is sold under their private label, so you aren't paying for advertising
2) They stock many fewer items than a traditional grocery store. For instance, you can buy pasta sauce in a few flavors, but they only sell it under the Trader Joe label. Same for peanut butter. You can buy natural, smooth, salted or unsalted and a few peanut specific styles, but that's about it. A standard grocery store sells Skippy, Jiff, Peter Pan, Peanut Butter and Co., plus the house brand. And most of those will come in several varieties like reduced fat, reduced sugar, natural, no salt, etc. That's many more different jars of peanut they have to stock.
