I keep it really simple by slicing a bagguette in half lengthwise and then into 4 pieces (8 halves). Brush to tops with oil/butter, sprinkle on some garlic powder, salt, pepper, paprika, and oregano or basil, and pop into the oven for 10-15 minutes to just toast lightly.
Comes out perfect every time!

Are you baking bread or buying and want to make it into garlic bread?
If I’m baking bread, it’s usually my challah recipe that I’ve shaped into knots. I prepare crushed garlic, parsley and olive oil. And as soon as it comes out of the oven I will brush the knots liberally.
Or I’ll buy Italian bread and slice open. Inside I’ll liberally shmear margarine and then generous amounts of garlic powder (on both sides). I close and wrap tightly in foil and put into the oven in high heat.

On what number would you bake this?

Make a few diagonal slits on top of each baguette.
Smear tops with olive oil. Season generously with crushed garlic or garlic powder and salt.
Bake uncovered at 450 for about 6 minutes. (Keep your eye on them.)
Warm and crusty. Mmmm.

I do it with rolls, Italian bread, any kind of bread I have handy… use either olive oil, or even cooking spray if you want to keep it low fat, add chopped or crushed garlic (I use the jarred), (I don’t like it with just garlic powder), sprinkle with oregano, and black pepper if you like… heat at 350 until lightly browned.
