Please think of those who may be alone (e.g., singles, couples w/o children, widows, divorcees, single parents, etc) and invite them for Shabbos or Yom Tov meals. There are many Yom Tov days coming and it is depressing for those who are excluded during this time. Don’t assume that people have places to go for Shabbos or Yom Tov. Many communities have chesed committees that encourage people to call if they need a place to go for a meal. People should not have to request to be invited because it may be uncomfortable or embarrassing to do this. Be proactive and invite people who may be alone. When you invite these potential guests, invite them like you would any other guest. Please do not invite people by asking them if they have a place to go for Shabbos or Yom Tov. Make them feel wanted as they enhance your meal. No one wants to feel like a chesed project.
