I'm trying a cheaper roast.
You might want to stretch certain foods.
Go to the cheapest store for staples and stock up.
Find the cheapest produce store within easy driving distance.
But you'll still have to psyche yourself up for some sticker shock. I don't normally make roasts. That I found one that was $x less a lb. than the one I usually get is great but I'm still buying roast.

Be prepared to go to 2 or 3 of one type of store (ex grocery). This way, you get the beat prices all around.

Depending on where u live and seasonal change Ttry to avoid the “back to school” sales and wait until long sleeve shirts and such go on sale in the mid/ late fall.

My cousins in Israel used to serve lots of challah and homemade dips at the beginning of the meal so people fill up on that rather than the expensive proteins.
Not that healthy but definitely cheaper!
