I'm an NYC DOE high school math teacher, teaching in a lower-achieving school. I'm going into my third year, but I've had a rough go of it the first two years. I'm looking for some beginning-of-year routines or strategies to start off on a strong note, especially with regard to classroom management and building rapport.
What do you do on the first day of school? What routines do you find work well with high school students?
