hey all,
am doing a lesson comparing purim and chanukah for my class in school.
let's see how many comparisons (similarities or differences) you can all come up with to compare pruim and chanukah(either the story, nissim, mitzvos etc)

you must include the facts from both eg.

Chanukah and Purim are both Y"T Miderabanan

OR

Chanukah the miracle was openly obvious and Purim the miracle was 'dressed' in natural consequences...

let's see how much we can all come up w/!

an idea just occured to me, I seem to remember that purim actually took a long time to work itself out. so what part of the story took place during the time of chanukah? I wonder if that would be relevant in any way

Yes, and for this reason we spin the dreidel from the top and the gragger from the bottom. Smile

(btw, I remember learning sichos about this if you want to look into them for your class.)

Chanuka - they fought-an act b'gashmius

Purim - they fasted-an act b'ruchnius

yet when we celebrate:

Chanuka - we light the menora-light being a more spiritual sort of mitzva

Purim - we feast
************************
Purim - took place when the Mikdash was destroyed
Chanuka - took place during the time of the Beis Ha'Mikdash
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Chanuka - we say Hallel
Purim - we don't say Hallel

they both included a woman who brought the miracle (Esther and Yehudis) - therefore although their mitzvos are defined by time, women are still chayav the same as men.
