Hi
I have hypoglycemia and have to drink and eat shiurim. I don't dehydrate easily so although I can sometimes drink water for the shiur I need other drinks that will help keep my blood sugar up and stable. I can't drink any juice because it's too high in sugar.
Milk doesn't work for me either because the sugars in the milk (lactose) make me sick too. I don't know for sure it that's the reason but from past years experience milk made me feel really sick.
I need ideas of other drinks or smoothies I can have.
I am thinking of almond milk but it's not high enough in fat/protein.
I am thinking maybe coconut milk is better but never tried it?
Or maybe I can blend almond butter or coconut butter or peanut butter into the almond milk?
Please I need any ideas you have!
Also for when I eat actual food is the 1 oz limit measured by volume or weight?
I am thinking weight because 1 oz in volume of let's say almond butter is a whole lot of calories.
Thanks in advance and an easy fast to everyone!

I asked my LOR back when I was in Lakewood but thanks for this because since I live in Brooklyn now I just asked my LOR in Brooklyn and he said I can eat AND drink every 5 minutes. Shiur for drink up to 1 fluid ounce. And shiur for food by volume up to the size.of 2 jack and jill biscuits OR anything that fits into a 1 fluid ounce schnapps cup. And yes he said it goes by volume even if something is very high in calories like butter or almond butter, as long as it fits into the schnapps cup I can have it. This means I could eat a lot more food than I thought I can but I still want ideas for drinks.
Last year I drank milk and felt awful.
Juice is too high in sugar. Gatorade is also way too high in sugar, but that gave me an idea. Anyone know of an electrolyte drink that is low in sugar?

You can order electrolyte powder that you can put in water. You can flavor that with any artificially sweetened powder or drops you want. I assume the low cal gatorades are a problem too?

Eating/drinking in shiurim is very difficult and I wish you the best.
When I had to do it I had a warm think soup for the drink. Can't remember how I kept it warm. I made it with meat barley sweet potato and a few other things.

Someone told me they did schnapps glass sized watermelon bites.
The year I did shiurim, I did a banana and cut it into the schnapps cup as I went

The Rav told my sister (bedrest, risk of early labor) to have grape juice, it’s more hydrating than water.
I do hear how coconut milk/water would be a great choice.
Quick almond milk is made by mixing pure almond butter with water and adding a little sweetener.

Obviously a drink thats good for sugar levels. The shiurim is a question for halachic authority not women on Imamother.

Would water+ lemon juice work? I know it's supposed to be good for regulating sugar levels.

Thanks for all the ideas.
Soup, coconut water and lemon juice water are all good ideas. I will pick up some coconut water and see if I have time for cooking soup. Grape juice diluted may work but I avoid juices because of sugar. Same with beetology and it has apple juice in the ingredients which is likely too high in sugar. I get dizzy from diet artificial sweeteners (like those in vitamin water zero) so that won't work.
Powder electrolytes sounds interesting too. I will check online.
I did ask a LOR about shiurim so that's figured out.
Thank you all.
