Where's Magenta Yenta when we need her?
Is it better to wrap hadassim in a damp cloth towel or a paper towel to keep them fresh (but hopefully not moldy)?

Wrap in only lightly damp paper towel, then wrap in foil and then keep in the fridge where there's an even temperature (not near a wall that is known to have frost).

I can't imagine there is any botanist who knows more about storing hadassim than an average beis medrash bachur

Strip the lower leaves, and cut the bottom of the stems at an angle. Put them in a vase with water that does not touch any of the leaves. Keep in a cool area of the house, or in the fridge. An aspirin in the water will keep them fresh even longer.
This works great with roses, too.
(Went to floral design school.)

Tend to agree.
Or even a florist. No need to have a degree in botany to possess this information.
