Bs"d We are a couple in mid sixties, with grown-up sons: one recently married bli ayin horah, and one in out-of-town yeshiva. The second son would love to change to the Mir etc., or other suitable Bais Medrash. Husband teaches computer programming and music .How much is a one bedroom apt in Bnei Brak? Is there a weekly local circular, preferrably accessable on line, with classifieds?

Bnei Brak is very expensive. Most children that get married there cannot afford to live there, so they have to move to other cities. Please do major research before you move to Israel with no solid parnossa lined up. I'll say it a little stronger and I know you didn't ask advice for this.
Please DO NOT move to Israel with very little parnossa! It's not tenable and it's heartbreaking to uproot yourself from a solid place here to shaky ground there.
Wishing you only the best!

You need to talk to your Nefesh b'Nefesh coordinator, and ask about affordable neighborhoods in the area. There are smaller towns, suburbs, places just a little bit off the beaten track.

One thing that will make a difference, is if you have a car or not. If you are not near a bus line, you can sometimes get a gorgeous place for half the price. People pay for convenience. Cars are an expense too, so make sure you do the math, and that it will suit your lifestyle.

Do you have any pensions? You can use that as a starting point to help you figure out your budget. Don't forget to figure in a percentage for unexpected expenses.
