We want to start learning hilchos Shabbos with the kids, and I am looking for a book that is kid-appropriate and can be broken down into very small lessons, to read maybe a page a meal.

There's the fabulous lillustrated amed tes melachos book but I am looking for something more textbook-like, just for kids.

Any ideas? Can you provide links for what you like?

We have a book called "good shabbos". Its the 39 malachos beautifully illustrated & very well written for kids. Its has adorable pictures & clues for kids to find. My kids love it.

Those recommended books sound nice. I didn't know about them and I had bought The Shabbos Home series for myself, so what I do is I skim ahead a bit and "translate" for my kids. That way I am really growing my own understanding alongside teaching them, and they are getting a pretty thorough education themselves. I take it in very small bites so it isn't really a problem that there are no engaging pictures because how much engagement do you need for a 2-5 minute lesson anyway. I'm proud of how much we're all learning this way. We only do it when we're home for Shabbos, and we're already most of the way through the first book.
