We almost never go to Simchas and live on the outskirts, dress in whatever we like.
for shabbos my kids wear cute and dressy stuff but not necessarily lakewood style. so seeking your advice here:
what's appropriate simcha wear for girls, 4-5 yo, 10 and a teen to wear at a Simcha of friends, acquaintances, not family?
I don't go for expensive clothing or cookie-cutter-current-season styles iykwim.
I like to get them clothing at kidichic, clover, fashion wholesalers, clearance (only!) at junees or hosiery plus.

Any winter shabbos outfit with from the stores you mentioned above are good. (They are all Lakewood stores!)
With shabbos shoes and a nice hair accessory ...

Should I ask at the stores what's shabbos vs simcha? I feel like an idiot lol.

No, unless you are closely related you just wear shabbos clothing to a wedding. Simcha wear is for close relatives

This. For friends'/acquaintances we wear our regular Shabbos clothes.

Ive asked this question before and wasn't made to feel silly at all. Find stores that have helpful staff and stick with them

Same. I’ve even started for cousins. BH we have a lot and the girls look gorgeous in their Shabbos cloths already. I buy on the way cheaper end. We haven’t seemed out of place. But our extended family isn’t fancy.
But my girls are still elementary age. If they were in high school I’d probably get them something nicer.
