I cut up two apples and drizzle with honey. Simple solution for me!

NOT GLUCOSE.
You are most probably insulin resistant |
Most people on this thread should do that.

I have the same problem. For one week I stayed out of the kitchen after supper but my kids hated that I was holed up in my room. The minute I started coming downstairs again I made a beeline for the food. Green apple parties are nice at that hour. Popcorn bloats me and I feel gross going to sleep afterwards.

This, plus several almonds should keep you satisfied.
Very important too is not just WHAT you eat, but HOW you eat it. Most of us (I am guilty of this too at times) often snack by the computer. When we do this, our brain does not process the fact that we just ate and does not send signals of satiety. So we may have quite a bit and still feel hungry. Instead, try eating your small snack with mindfulness / awareness: Put it on a nice plate and eat it without distractions. Try involving all your senses as you 'feast' on your snack. Smelling it and savoring each bite before swallowing. You may be surprised to find out that you feel fuller sooner.
When we still continue eating even when no longer physically hungry, we are often hungry for something else: rest, company, something interesting to engage our minds. There are many ways of being hungry, and just as many ways of nurishing ourselves.
Good luck!

I eat fantastically all day and then as soon as I hit the couch/bed/whatever after getting everyone down, I binge.
Help!! |
Also, do you really "binge" (as in out of control eating of a large amount of high calories food within a short amount of time; often feeling regret and shame afterwars)? If yes, then this may possibly apply to Binge Eating Disorder --a new eating disorder in DSM 5, and there are clinicians that can assess and treat it, if this is really the case for you).
Or maybe you use the word 'binge' just to say that you eat a few cookies or chips etc. that you would not normally eat during the day when you are not as tired, and have more awareness. Similar but significant difference.

Have you eaten carbs for dinner? I find that white carbs give me terrible cravings. When I cut them out and stick to protein, veggies, fruits, the cravings disappear.

Could it be you trying to soothe yourself after a long day? Try a good book, video, music, bath, smelling essential oils etc. Also, the later I stay up, the more I eat. The more tired I am, the more I eat.
