Having just endured a near death experience, and with all the pressure hes under, with the entire world wanting to interview him, he didnt utter one syllable that could possibly offend any peace loving people. CNN might have been looking for some dirt, but they didnt get any from him. He spoke his mind both clearly and gently. Hes brilliant, an inspiration to all, and a rock of strength!

Mixed reviews from me.
First of all, I applaud his poised and even-tempered answers. All this from someone who must be both physically and emotionally exhausted.
But I disagree with the constant harping about "hate speech." Hate speech is free speech. Unless you are seriously and directly instructing people to commit acts of violence, hurtful or even bigoted speech is perfectly legal. It would be a tragedy for the US to enact the sort of "anti hate speech" laws which many EU countries have enacted, which smother people's ability to speak their minds.
Thirdly, it is an interesting assumption that this shooter was motivated by hate speech at all. It seems that it is just an opportunistic spin that CNN is putting on this tragedy. The spin could have just as easily been "Synagogue was known for helping refugees. Have we reached our limit?" or "Criminal triuckdrivers: Why are there so many?"

There is a general feeling in the country that hate speech has become acceptable and normalized and that mentally unstable people could react to that but there were already mass shootings and hate crimes prior to Trump such as the shooting of a van of bochrim on the Ari Halberstam ramp.
