I lost a recipe I'd copied from somewhere, not sure if it was a magazine or a current cookbook. It was for a soup that called for canned cannellini beans, chickpeas, their liquid, other vegetables. Not sure if it called for pesto, I mix in spinach (maybe it suggested spinach?).

But you don't have to use stock, you can make your base with sauteed aromatics and add boiling water and kosher salt to start off.
