My granddaughter is BH very good in school. She is now in 8 grade and does very well on exams as ling as she has extra time. When I do her hw with her she is actually able to work at a pace normal for her grade. My daughter is getting her evaluated to see if she would be eligible for extra time on exams officially which I feel is crucial now that iyh she will be in a new school for High School next year. Is there a type of psychologist or such that deals with helping students overcome exam anxiety? My granddaughter lives in hollywood florida. Thanx!

Why are you doing homework with an 8th grader? Is there a reason she needs extra time & help? Is she learning disabled?
I find that with test the girls are anxious if the mom makes a pressure and a big deal about it. Some mom's go crazy with pressure at mid-terms, it makes the girls so nervous and anxious. I'm glad my mid-terms are over, I just remind my girls to study and that's it, it's their responsibility.

I am the grandma. I am a retired math teacher so my granddaughter calls me for hw help. Last yr she was in the lowest class hardly passing. I have been working with het and BH she was moved up to an advanced class and doing very well. I treasure the time I get to work with her each evening! She also loves it and is starting to love math as well. I spoke to her today and it seems as if she double and triple checks het work on exams and is busy looking at the clock for fear that she will run out of time. I think this is test anxiety. Daughtet is taking her to be evaluated for extra time for iyn the next couple of years. In addition , I feel that she should see someone who deals with test anxiety. I am just not sure what that is called? Is it a “ learning specialist?” Thanx!
