I'm surprising my husband with a vacation to New Orleans the week of december 23. Any ideas of what to do there? No budget.

Tell me how Cafe du Monde is kosher? Because if it is, I'm ditching work tomorrow and flying in for some beignets

It's well known to be kosher. Google for details

As a traveller always looking for kosher restaurants, I just went to look. I don't see anything about a hescher on the website.

The World War 2 Museum there is world-class and unparalleled. The French Quarter is the most unique and well-known place to visit. The antebellum mansions are stunning; check out the Garden District. And as others have said, a swamp boat tour is lots of fun if they're still running in the winter. Natchez, Mississipi is also a really fun place to check out.

Yummm those beignets are awesome. We also liked the ww2 museum, river cruise, mansion tours, mardi gras museum tour, and there is a lot of nightlife if you would partake in that. There is more kosher food in Metairie, a nearby suburb.

Sorry to hijack this thread, I just didn't want to start a new one when this was less than a month old - can anyone comment on getting around without a car? My husband and I wouldn't have one and it looks like the kosher restaurants are a few miles away (other than du monde but we can't spend a week only eating beignets... or can we??? Wink ) Did anyone do this trip without a car? Can you take public transit back and forth between the restaurants and the main tourist area, which I assume is French Quarter? Or uber?
