My 6 month old was up practically all night. He has a runny nose and a bit of a cough but neither are really bad. He doesn’t have fever. He never did this before so I’m wondering if I should take him in today to check if something is going on or if he’s acting fine during the day I should just wait it out?

(I don’t think it’s from teething because he wasn’t crying in pain and he’s been teething for a while and that never kept him up at night.)

If it was my kid, I’d wait it out. There’s not much a dr can do for a cold anyway.

I wouldn't go yet. Doctors don't really do anything for those symptoms.

I wouldn't go to a doctor but I would use a saline spray

And I would use a warm air humidifier. Really helps clear out stuffy noses.

What does it do? Do you buy or make it?

If he was up all night and has a cold, my guess is ear infection so I would probably take him. Especially since tomorrow is shabbos and then you'll be stuck waiting another day.

You buy it. Comes in a spray bottle and you squirt it in each nostril. I use it all the time for my baby because he's congested. There's no dose; you do it as much as needed.

If he would have an ear Infection he would be screaming and have a fever.
He probably couldn't sleep because his nose is stuffed and clogged. You can try lifting his mattress and a nasal saline spray.

Keep in mind that this could develop into an ear infection....

I'm taking him to the doctor. His nose isn't so stuffed, just a little runny. He can breathe fine so I can't imagine that's what kept him up. I want to make sure it's not an ear infection before I go away for the weekend and end up stuck.

That’s not true. I’ve taken my kids for physicals and it turned out they had ear infections and I had no clue. More than once I’ve taken my kid to the doctor for something else and was surprised they had an ear infection.

When DD was a baby, whenever she got a runny, stuffy nose, I would put her to sleep in her car seat. (temporary situation) This kept her head elevated and allowed her nose to drain naturally. She got less ear infections this way, and since she's allergic to penicillin, this was my best solution to keep her off of stronger antibiotics which killed her stomach and made her get terrible rashes....
