This year some friends and I decided to exchange postcards and I have no idea where to get them. Drugstores only seem to have the folding out cards that you have to put in an envelope. Where do you get postcards that you can mail on their own?

The post office has plain ones that are already pre-stamped. Some locations don't carry them but they're available at USPS online.
You can also buy assorted post cards online, and buy the stamps separately.

Noooo
Not the post office!
I’m one of those people who can’t go in there.
Aren’t there random places you can buy them? I only need a few.

Some convenience stores, $0.99 stores. Definitely tourist shops in NYC.

I just custom ordered some from Cafepress and was really impressed with the quality and delivery speed!

You can make any card into a postcard. Just write on one side, address the other, and stamp it. A photo print or index card will work. If it’s a photo, draw a line down the middle of the reverse side, message on the left, stamp and address on the right.
