Hi all,
We live in New York. Me and dh would like to do a trip to Switzerland but were trying to figure out the costs and if we can afford it.

Can someone whose been there offer some info on good deals, tickets, hotels, attractions there?

We want to do it on a budget but we also want it to be enjoyable and stay somewhere nice, but doesn't need to be overly fancy or luxurious.

Thanks so much!

Will you sleep in Switzerland or beyond the frontier?
Do you want a known hotel or are you ok with a thing in a village?

So I'm not even sure what these are. What's beyond the frontier?
I'd prefer a hotel but if there are nice "things in a village" then I'd be interested to check it out..

Beyond the frontier - France, Germany, Italy... are cheaper.
We have often taken the hotel "out". But when you're in the middle of Switzerland it's not convenient at all, so then we generally go for not well known places. It depends what you look for.
Jewish hotels will be prohibitive.

In Luzern itself there is the lake with the spectacular surrounding Alps. You can take a boat tour on the lake
There is the famous Kapellbrücke, a very old wooden bridge which is a replica because the original unfortunately burned down some years ago
Luzern also has a very charming old town center as well a historical buildings
There is a nice museum of transportation in Luzern also.
About 45 mins away there is the town of Engelberg with the well known Titlis mountain. Very touristy but still breathtaking when the weather is good
