Hi all! For some reason, when I wash my winter velour Shabbos robes, they always get a white coating of something or other after a while, like a white fuzz. What am I doing wrong? Should I not put them in the dryer? I just got a new robe and want to keep it nice... Can't Believe It Thanks!

Are you washing them with other fabrics like flannel, fleece or terry? Don’t. There are lint donors and lint takers, and all napped fabrics like velour, corduroy and velvet/een are massive lint takers.

You could also be using too much detergent. See if puttingvthecwash thru a second rinse and adding some white vinegar to the water helps.

Check your washer’s lint filter. It may need cleaning. Ditto the dryer.

You could always wash the robes by hand.

Its probably lint. Wash it inside out and to not put it in the dryer. It won't hold nicely.

wash them alone on gentle cycle low spin ... dry for 10 minutes to fluff out velour then hang for remainder of drying time

I hang to dry velour robes and have never had a problem.

I just washed mine last night!
Only wash on cold.
Only put dark colors in machine.
I hung mine to dry over the banister. Today it is dry, clean like new and hanging in my closet.

Wash velour separately with no other fabrics. Hang dry.

Cotton velours really do need the dryer in order for it to look nice. Poly velour gets hung up. Wash separately and outside in.

The dryer wears out the velour and makes it look like pj's.
