Generally, the men have been in shul while the ladies were home. DH loves to make cold cut platters even when it is only the 2 of us. He is in charge of drinks.
While the men are singing or making a l'chaim, I plate the fish and bring it to the sideboard. Salads are plated while the guys are in shul. I bring them to the sideboard. Dips are lined up on the sideboard. I like to get real food on the table as soon as everyone gets their challah.
I serve soup or chulent.
DH carves the main if it needs carving Friday night. I bring in the rest of the food. DH takes over dessert and cleanup.
