We have a 4-y.o. girl, and are G-d willing, expecting a baby boy in early July.
My husband and I love Hebrew, unusual, and creative names. It's very important for it to be meaningful. We'd love something from the parsha around that time, but I didn't see anything that resonated. We can't name the baby Korach! lol
We both love the name Niv (or spelled Nev or Neev). Yaniv is more common and popular, but totally different meaning. Niv means language or dialect. I only found one instance of it coming up in Tanach- In Nevi'im Achronim- it's very beautiful I think. I just haven't heard it very often.
What do you think? Have you ever heard the name Niv for a Jewish boy?

Do you have any men in your family you could name for as an honor?
You could also name for a person in the Torah who you really admire.
Jewish names don't have to be "creative and unique". We are a people of tradition, and our names are beautiful just the way they are.

Frantic Frummie, I'm aware, but that's not our preference.

There's also Ziv (not Zev) if you want a similar sound

I know a niv. I think its wider used in secular circles in israel, not that this stops it from being a great name!!(I asked here once about my sons name and was told it was only a secular name. We gave that name and he's now learning in a chareidi cheider so take opinions with a pinch of salt!)

Parshat Nasso has the names of the leaders of the shevatim. YOu might like the sound or meaning of one of those.

And parshas Shelach has the names and fathers names of the meraglim. Not such great role models, but still.
I always loved the name Aminadav. I don't know anyone with the name, but he was Nachshon and Elisheva's father.
Elitzafan is also nice, a tzaddik, Moshes's cousin I think.

@Zebra111 - exactly! I work with quite a few secular Israelis, which explains why they had heard of it, and maybe some people on this message board hadn't...
