Tana French is my absolute favorite contemporary author, hands down. (Everybody who knows me IRL has heard me rave about her, lol.) But I admit to being disappointed with The Witch Elm. The best thing about her books is how she gets you to care about her characters, as different and flawed as they are. I didn't find the character in this one to be likeable at all:(
I've liked some of Kate Atkinson's books, I didn't know she had more recent books out.

another Jodi fan here! she thought provoking, fearless and a wee bit nutty. im always on the lookout for her next book. some books are awesome, some can be better but shes still one of my favorite authors.

This was the first Tana French I’ve read so I have no other of her books to compare it to. I didn’t find the protagonist to be completely unlikable as I jiuht he was just a typical young guy in the beginning and certainly life threw him some hard blows which were disproportionate to his initial minor sin.
