I prepared my cholent on Thursday night (last night) including the potatoes, onions, beans, barley, meat and spices. I added water and placed the crock pot insert into the fridge overnight. My question is: Licht bentchin here is at 5:00 p.m. What is the earliest I can put the cholent into the crockpot and turn it on? Is 10 a.m. too early for this morning? Should I wait till 3 p.m. I don't want to overcook it. We generally eat our Shabbos morning seudah around 1:30 p.m. Thanks for any responses. And have a good Shabbos!!!

If you can wait until 12pm, that would still be ok. I prefer to wait until right before shabbos but when I need to have everything set before then I start it at noon.

I put my cholent up around 10am Friday on high, and switch it to low in the early afternoon. It is never overdone- even when we wait to eat it for shalosh seudos.

Recently started putting up cholent right before candle lighting on low and comes out great! In past came out way too overdone when I put it up in afternoon. Depends on your crock pot.

Every crock pot is diff, I put mine on high early Friday morning and turn it to low after like 5 hours.. U also need to make sure it's full of water so it doesn't become overdone. Sometimes I add some chicken soup right before candle lighting if I see it needs more liquid.

I put mine up at 8 am Friday morning on high. At about 1 pm I make it very low and keep it that way until Shabbos day. Sometimes I need to add a little water right before Shabbos but always comes out delicious.

I put mine up between 8-9 am before work on Friday.
DH likes it better the longer it cooks anyway and this way I do it and don’t have to think about it again.
