I remember my elementary school teacher playing a song like this for us. It was a song in Hebrew about how Hashem went to the different nations and asked them if they want the Torah, each nation asked what's in it and declined etc... I searched online and can't find it. Does anyone know what I'm talking about or who sings it, where to find it?
Thanks!

Hashem gave us a present,
Do you know what it was?
He gave us the Torah and we must keep its laws.
He asked the other nations, Do you want this gift of mine?
But they said No thank you, for torah we’ve no time.
And then to B'nei Yisroel Hashem did go,
And we said "Na'aseh V'nishma" because we love Hashem so
And then to B'nei Yisroel Hashem did go,
And we said "Na'aseh V'nishma" because we love Hashem so.

There is a Yom Tov Erlich one in Yiddish that was translated to Hebrew.
Avraham Freid sings it in both languages.
It goes through the different nations and why they each turned it down..

Avraham Fried did not compose the Yiddish Gems songs. They were Yom Tov Erlich's. My father played those records for us as children. Oh how beautiful they are.

The hebrew version is not nearly as Hartzig (MNSHO!). It is song 9 on this album. I dont see it on youtube.

I teach in a kiruv preschool and I changed some of the lyrics of the song "Hashem Gave Us A Present". Instead of the line "for Torah there's no time" I substituted "your offer we decline" because I couldn't bear to hear them sing and repeat and take home the idea that there is no time for Torah.

Isnt the Avraham Fried song very derogatory about other nations, even racist?
I recall each nation being described extremely negatively.

No, I would venture to say it's directly on the mark.

You would be ok with a non-Jewish preschool teaching the kids songs about how Jews love murder, s@x nonstop and so on?

I wasn't talking about preschools, I was talking about the song.

I think the song is full of toxic negativity and dangerous prejudice.

I don't know the avraham fried song, but I do know that you have to be very careful when you teach the midrash this was based off of. Unfortunately, this midrash is taught to preschool kids in a way that implies that all non-jewish people are horrible. the implication that anyone who is not jewish would rather steal and murder then anything else. I think it is a very dangerous notion!

Kind of thoughtless to teach this midrash to kids too young to understand who exactly the nations that are mentioned in it were and what their historical relationship to Am Yisrael was. I agree that in this day and age it has to be taught carefully, or maybe not at all, at this level.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the song, which I just saw here for the first time...
