I just want to add that I do agree with the posters above that it could mean a bit of insecurity but that sounds perfectly normal for your family situation. Obviously, a teenaged girl with no siblings or father in the house is going to be a little more emotionally dependent on her mother (if the relationship is good) than other teenagers, but that's the reality of your family so I don't see anything wrong with it. My father died when my sister was a teenager and she lived alone with my mother after that (she's the youngest) and she was much closer to my mother than most teens and young adults. But that ended as soon as she got married and her husband became her closest relationship. And she was/is completely normal and independent in all other ways.
