Would you still make a weeknight event in addition to the Shabbos?

My sons birthday is during the week and we are only doing Shabbos.
Plus a party for just his class during the week.

My nephew's Bar Mitzva was on Shabbos. They did not make a separate event during the week. They made a beautiful Shabbos for family and close friends, plust a bigger Kiddush in shul.
(In Lakewood, the class is not typically invited to the Bar Mitzva affair. They make a party for the class in school, and they can also come to the Kiddush.)

I’m in Lakewood. My sons school doesn’t allow both a school party and a weekday family party.

His bar mitzvah birthday was on Shabbat. We had the shul kiddush on Shabbat and had some of the family over for the whole Shabbat (joint meals). Then, on Sunday night we had the party in a hall for our friends, his friends and our family. I think it was nice to have both.
