My child has a condition that flared up.

We really have an appointment scheduled for next week.... we can’t wait.

I’ve been trying to find an office open today. No luck...

Maybe your pediatrician or an urgent care center can help you until you can get to a proper dermatologist?

If the condition is eczema-related and there is a big flare after not using steroids for a while, try the Skin Healing Gemach. 845.425.2773

If the flareup is severe, as it usually is about 2 months after the last dose of steroids, the child will probably be misdiagnosed as having cellulitis and be put on both steroids and antibiotics if you go to E.R.
A ped or urgent care would probably give oral steroids and antibiotics. Or send to the ER.
But it is possible that neither are actually needed, and other treatments may be helpful.
Call the gemach.

How would a gemach be able to diagnose?

They don't diagnose.

They are an information gemach. They have a tremendous wealth of information, medical studies, a support group, list of doctors, etc.

So many people have been wrongly guided in skin care and end up suffering for years, needlessly. The gemach was established to combat that, and to prevent suffering for the next generation by spreading awareness.

They can't help EVERYONE, but most people who call them hear information that helps.
