I'd like to gift my friend with something from ikea. It says that shipping is $79! Anybody have any success with coupon codes online? I haven't found any that actually work. Thanks!

There are often coupons for products at Ikea, but not shipping. Ikea is meant to be a pick-it-up-yourself kind of place. If you're ordering big furniture then you pay the $150 or so to have it delivered.

If it helps at all, the $79 is a huge discount from what it used to cost - I think at least $129. They have cheaper parcel shipping for small items, but that's what it costs for furniture.
I got Sauder (also decent quality) from Wayfair, which does have free shipping.

It depends where you are shipping it to. (perhaps it could also depend on the size of the item) I wanted to send it to Lakewood which cost $79 but I put in NYC and then it cost $39... I tried a different location and it said $200...
In any case I decided to order the gift from a different company and I managed to get my free shipping
