The answer is yes. Why do you trust anonymous people over your doctor? And if you're worried enough to post, why not call?

It is literally their job to help you take care of your child's health.

Because I have a toddler and a baby and my doctor is notorious for saying come in every time you call even though they inevitably say it's a virus and just take Tylenol and stay hydrated. So yes, I ask around before going in because of how difficult it is to go

Many people run to the dr a little too fast. Sometimes if they hear that it’s nothing major then they learn to wait a day. Chances are the next day the kid is fine.

What a rude thread! I have gleaned a lot of good info on imamother regarding different health issues my kids have. And sometimes you need a little outside nudge to go to dr . Imamother is not a replacement for medical advice, but there is a lot of interesting info out there and it's worthwhile to ask.

I'm not talking about "my child has x issue tell me about it". I've started those myself.

But if your kid has a high fever and is hallucinating for the first time, common sense is to call the doctor right away. Not post on imamother.

In real life I had a friend who's kid was having difficulty breathing. She asked me if I think the kid should go to the dr. I told her to go to the hospital. The kid was admitted for a week. I guess common sense is in short supply.

I believe it’s better safe than sorry. My son once had a stomach ache, dh said I overreact, I took him to Dr. anyway, and it turned out to be strep. Just a stomach ache.

Not every time but I haven't dealt with that much since I only have a toddler and baby so pretty much everything is new to me. I'd rather post here asking for advice than shlep my babies in the cold to the doctor only to be told what any experienced mother would know.

Because doctors dont educate you when to come and when to stay home. They just want you to come in waste half your day so they can make money. When you go to the doctor you many times come home with a new bug that you caught and the cycle of sickness continues. It is good to be educated and aware of what is a concern and what not. I do a lot of internet research as I like being an educated consumer

. A Dr can not diagnose your child over the phone . It's impossible and that's why they always tell you to bring the child in .
P.s. drs aren't money hungry human beings . Most drs actually care about their patients and most drs aren't rolling in dough either .

Like today for example, my toddler was in a fine mood and randomly threw up everything he ate for dinner. Once he was cleaned up he went back to his cheerful self. It's the first time he's ever thrown up and I got nervous. I actually called my mother instead of posting here and she asked if he had any other symptoms which he didn't, and if he had eaten really quickly which he had, she said his stomach probably was just overloaded because he ate too fast and no need to call the doctor's after hours line but I should keep an eye on him.
