It doesn't matter if those teaching spots pay pennies and cannot support a family. These girls are so holy though, they'll only marry full time learners, with the issue of support being placed on the parent's shoulder, or government's shoulder. So you've got a recipe for girls doing holy work, don't have to 'get dirty' with the unsanctified work, and have full time learners to show off to boot.

Before I get jumped on, I do acknowledge that not everyone acts this way and some do everything for the right reasons. But there is quite a decent number who take great pride in themselves, and makes sure everyone knows about it.

Maybe when I got the coveted high school job I felt grand for a year or two--but not really superior. Anyway, then I realized that teaching high school is no picnic.
I'm very glad I found my way into a career with real earning potential. Sometimes, I even look down at my earlier self for sticking it out this long. Today I realize that I really wasn't that much of a good teacher and that teaching was very likely a mistake. I definitely don't respect teachers for their proffesssion over anyone else. I respect the person for their middos and accomplishments irrespective of position.
It can be argued that teachers in frum schools are lucky bec. they can keep abreast of upcoming Yomim Tovim. Limudei kodesh is obvious how, and limudei chol often also get the vibe. I always feel so out of things. Yom Tov 'jumps' on me without much warning (well...because I'm busy working and not looking at the calendar. It isn't thrown into my face the way teachers have it thrown into their face).

I work in schools where many of the parents act superior because of their advanced degrees, so I make sure to build up what I know about their child and education to force them to listen to me. I generally try to gauge the situation and only do it as much as necessary for the good of the child, but I do sometimes misjudge and come across as too confident. It's all an act though
