Gosh.
I was intrigued by this thread, and remember enjoying the book, so I watched the trailer. I could barely get through it! So bleak, so hopeless, so....evil.
The book was all of that, of course, but I guess the imagery in the trailer has a bigger impact.
I'll pass, thank you

Ok, so hopefully most made it. And were far better off then those that remained in Gilead.

I found the book compelling. I haven’t watched the show. I don’t universally like Margaret Atwood’s writing. Alias grace was a total snooze for me.
I’d watch the show but we don’t have cable and it’s not on Netflix.

Lo alenu, yup. They were notoriously corrupt and hypocritical apart from a few true believers

I have watched seasons 1 and 2 and loved them. I haven't watched any of the 3rd season, because I am pregnant and very emotional, and don't want to put this kind of disturbing thing in my brain right now. But I will watch it eventually, once I feel up to it!
And what water girl said. This show is not for everyone.

My co worker is obsessed. I like to hear what happened, but I don't think I could watch it myself

I agree it's disturbing but is so well done that I am thoroughly hooked! It continues to surprise me and that's unudual in a TV series.

Also what intrigues me most are how ppl are drawing comparisons between the show/book with today's politics
