I have a Bachelor and Master of Social Work and I truly love my job organizing programs to benefit low income, homeless, or disabled people.

I'm a neurologist, I work long, long hours but I love every minute of it Smile

. BH I have a very understanding husband and children.

Edited to add: I have a bachelor's in philosophy, liberal arts and English literature, a medical degree (5 years), and 5 year specialty (time taken for mat leaves).... I've been working in my field and also teach at a medical school for 8 years.

I work for a software company as a technical specialist. I love my job because I get to help people daily. I love being appreciated. My job is technical and I love fixing things.

My background is that I went to school and worked as a programmer for a bit. I stopped working and was a sahm some time. My background definitely gives me the ability to do my job well.

Teacher. There's nothing like facing a bunch of bright-eyed 12-year-olds that think every word you say is gospel.
Bachelor's in liberal arts, Master's in Mathematics Education 6-8, Master's in Educational Leadership (not necessary for my job).

Hey burnt-out attorney!
Hugs to you. I burnt out early. My advice: go against the grain. (That's good advice for anyone looking to love their job, IMHO.)

I was out of the workforce and my legal background was originally an afterthought when I started with a non profit. Later, it became an integral part of my job.

Research the fields that appeal to you. Are you looking to be in-house counsel, do legal aid type work or transition to a different role entirely? Is it possible to start a pro bono relationship with an agency in your target field?

More importantly, can your life sustain an 80% pay cut? Many not for profits would love to benefit from your expertise/ professionalism, but the pay is beans if you're used to a big firm salary, and benefits are not comparable.

Thank you for posting this thread, OP. I l'd like to read about the different types of careers other imamothers pursue. I enjoy very much that we're an eclectic bunch.

I literally prefer being being in classroom to being on vacation.

I'm a school psychologist. I love working with kids, was not cut out to be a teacher. I love psychology but not the clinical aspect. I love diagnosticsI was told I should "go to medical school" but I never had the test scores, stamina or drive for that. I wanted a career that would allow me to be flexible for my kids and get summer vacation. I may not have a full two months off, but certainly more than being in a corporate field.

I do bookkeeping for small businesses remotely. I love it.
I don't have a degree but I have a strong knack for numbers and maths.

NICU nurses are the best! Hearts of gold and nerves of steel. In my month of NICU living I was continually awed by the nurses’ compassion and calm demeanor in the face of stressful situations. I’ll admit I wasn’t always the nicest as a stressed out, postpartum NICU mom. The nurse manager told me she only hires the best of the best for the NICU. They need to have utmost sensitivity and kindness and genuinely love the job they do. They were fantastic. Major respect.
