I went to the store and they haves too large for my sink. How do I cover it without the insert?

Do you have to cover stainless if you kasher?
For those who have to I've seen extra heavy duty foil, heavy plastic tablecloths and the like.

Thank you. I have ceramic old sink. I will cover with heavy duty silver foil.

I never understood why a sink has to be covered. If it's cleaned and water and things go down the drain, why does it have to be covered? Any covering gets almost immediately disgusting and moldy and thus the covering loses even a loose interpretation of such.

They sell small sizes on amazon. They even collapse so it’s easy to store from year to year.
