We are in EY for yom tov and of course I want to visit the kosel. Kids are in early grade school. They have some appreciation for just being there but it's a lot of traveling to go through for "just" the kosel (we are not staying in Yerushalayim so it's minimum one long bus ride to Yerushalayim and then a bus or light rail from bus station to Old City and then walk in to Kosel, and then again going back.)
Anything touristy around there will be crowded and would need reservations and even then probably not so child-friendly. We did Ir David water tunnels last year which was fun but I don't think would do again.
Food is usually a good diversion but of course on Pesach it is probably not happening. Especially since places we've been so far I see most things are only kosher for kitniyos and we are ashkenaz.
Please help advise how to make a kosel trip successful for ages 5-9!!!

Hi there! A majority of the food right outside the Kosel is without kitniyot including a couple pizza places, Holy Bagel and a couple shawarma places. Just look on the pesach Teuda and it should say “לא חשש קטניות” in red letters. As far as things to do with your young children there are a number of family friendly museums including the burnt house which has a movie, there is the artist colony, mamilla. Also around Ben Yehuda area there is often a boys choir performing for free on chol Good luck and gut moed!
