Rumplenacht is a German word for motzaei Pesach when one puts back all the Pesach things and puts the house back into non-Pesach order. “rumpeln” means “to rumble”, and is an allusion, presumably, to the noisy tumult and general hullabaloo of packing, unpacking, moving and repositioning kitchenware. Why it is any noisier than the process of making a kitchen Pesachdik is a good question.
I call it Rumpled Night, because after a month of cleaning, a week of cooking and another week of hosting (dishwashing and floor sweeping my constant companions), to say nothing of packing and unpacking my whole kitchen twice in two weeks, I am feeling very rumpled indeed.
