Leave the kids home. Toys don't belong at a simcha. And if kids need toys at a simcha, they can stay home.

So how would you keep them busy? Can’t get them a babysitter as it’s too far and too many hours

Can you drop them off at a babysitter in the area of the hall?

I know nobody in the area and they won’t be happy going to a total stranger

Magna Doodle, similar to etch a sketch.
The Melissa and Doug reusable sticker books.
Any fun new coloring things, like special glitter crayons (not markers or anything messy).
Crayola Wonder Mess Free products.
The booklets that have a magic pen and color on the picture to reveal things- coloring for 3 year old and more activity type for 6 year old.
Felt activity books.
Magnetic dolls
Simple puzzles

For an aunt's Vort, kids can come and bring toys along if need be. Full stop.

A small box of building blocks can be good, or those pads of paper that you write on with a little brush that you can fill with water (it only colors on the paper, so if the brush gets anywhere else it is just water). If you have an Amazing Savings nearby some cheap toys from there will work. Possibly a sticker book as well if they can be trusted to only stick the stickers in said book.

For my wedding there were four kids age 4-6 who attended. A relative of mine went to the dollar store and made goodie bags for the kids to keep them busy. She got things like coloring books, crayons... etc. The kids were so excited to get a special present just for them and all the kids behaved beautifully.

Those water books mentioned are sold by Melissa and Doug
If you have target near you, the $1 spot has lots of felt boards and pretend toys there now (for $3)

You can get a sitter or a girl to watch them at the hall & entertain them or put them to sleep in a carriage in a side room
