I didn’t know what forum to put this under. If anyone has any suggestions for me I’d love to hear!

Basically after each pregnancy I found that I was never able to regain my previous energy level. Of course with little children it’s expected but with each one it’s getting worse.

Well since my last baby (almost a year ago) I’m so fatigued constantly. Think pregnancy type fatigue but I’m not pregnant! It definitely
Interferes with my daily life and ability to be a good mother and wife and ability to be productive in general.

I’ve had blood tests done in the past and it’s not mono and those types etc. but I feel that there must be a cause and I need to find it. Maybe birth control??

Anyone have exp with such a thing? Any suggestions? Any ideas what kind of dr to see?

I can’t enjoy life when I’m walking through in a fog and always thinking when I can lie down next.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

For me, it was hypothyroidism.

Other alternatives which quickly come to mind:
Diabetes type 2
Vitamin D deficiency
Iron deficiency
Getting up at night for your children

Anyone else?

Thanks for replying! I’ve had thyroid checked several times. I should definitely try adding vitamin d...good point!!

Any ideas what dr to see for these things?

See your internist/general dr for a full blood panel and work up.

Are you 'just' constantly fatigued, or do you also find yourself actually falling asleep or falling asleep/blinking out while engaged in monotonous activities?

It's prob thyroid and they're not doing the right tests or misinterpreting the results. Btdt.

It can also come from emotional stress or ppd

I've been dealing with fatigue for years. Many doctors dismiss women's fatigue issues because they just assume it is because they are moms. Before MS was able to be diagnosed, doctors thought women were just crazy.

In general, you should start at a general practitioner who can do blood work to see if anything comes up. Fatigue is a symptom of so many things and blood work may show a cause or what specialist you should see.

The most helpful doctor I saw was a rheumatologist. She took me seriously, sent me to various other specialists to make sure there were no other problems she was missing.

I also had a sleep study done.

A friend had problems with her IUD but didn't connect it until years later. She had it removed and within a month was feeling better.

Baby mostly is. Occasionally we go through a week or so of being up probably from bouts of teething. That must be so hard for you, still getting up nightly for a year and a half!

I don’t find myself falling asleep during activities but sometimes I’ll find myself so tired that I’ll realize I didn’t hear my child asking me something that they’ve repeated several times. But not because I fell asleep, more bec I was too tired to be paying attention to what’s going on around me.

It’s my first time with IUD so I’m wondering but truthfully I’ve had it after other pregnancies on other bc methods but each time gets worse.

For me it was intestinal yeast/candida overgrowth. Went on a very specific diet and took probiotics and florastor and my symptoms improved drastically

I have struggled with this for years. "Sleepymama" sounds like a cute punny name, but is no joke in my case. I can very much relate to the idea of feeling like you're in a fog, and also the tuning out and not even realizing someone is talking to you. I've tested for everything, doctors dismiss it and think it's all in my head. It feels very physical and not emotional to me. I have found that a very strict diet that's high in protein and vegetables and low in carbs has definitely helped, but not enough. I've just gotten used to doing everything very simply, I have to rest a lot so I simply can't get a lot of things done.
Even though the doctors tell me my thyroid is fine, I wonder if maybe I should look into thyroid again based on the article linked above.
This is a brand new study that has given me hope

Do you know what your thyroid lab results were? Did the doctor just do TSH, which can easily be misinterpreted due to doctors using incorrect ranges, and not having the thyroid hormones tested as a reference point?
