We love Detroit! The community is warm and laid back. There is a nice size yeshivish crowd here and also allot of professionals. Not alot of bussinesmen here and not so much opportunity for that. Compared to New York it's very affordable. Houses are going up in cost but still great prices compared to tri-state area. About 200k on average with larger remodeled houses costing as much as 3-350k. The schools here are fantastic and offer a great chinuch. Tuition is expensive but scholarships are the norm. We pay about 5k per kid (3 kids,our income is 125k). In general there is a nice atmosphere here. Lots of greenery suburb feel LOTS of shuls, about 5 kosher eateries, a few Jewish clothing stores. From what I see ppl don't have trouble getting jobs here however salaries are on a much lower scale than in new York or New Jersey. You do need two cars here as the cities are very spread out. It is a wonderful place to raise a family.
