What is a “luxury” you can’t live without?

For me it’s cleaning help. Even at times that we were struggling, I cut down on groceries (obviously we didn’t go hungry) so that I could keep some cleaning help (which I had to cut down on as well at one point - but I need at least some help.)

I find it interesting how some posters spend on other things I’d consider luxuries, but go without cleaning help, which I can’t imagine! Interested in hearing what others feel they just can’t live without, even when things are tight.

I'm going to say housekeeper, though for me it feels more like a necessity than a luxury.
After that comes personal trainer. Definitely a luxury. Without her I would never work out as often or as hard as I do.

Tomatoes! but that's not a luxury. My weekly magazine read (Mishpacha and Ami ) is sacrosanct.

Cleaning help
I often wonder what would happen if we lost our money. After the real basics, not having cleaning help would be extremely difficult for me.

1. Ubers, because it's really hard for me to drive.

2. Good dark, bittersweet chocolate, because it's delicious and makes me happy and isn't very unhealthy.

3. Amazon Prime, so I can get things without having to shop for them. Also, same-day grocery delivery, Despite the fee/added cost, I spend less when I don't actually go to the store, so I feel only a little guilty about these.

4. Lawn mowed every two weeks.

I would give up most things before I would give up those.

I don't have any cleaning or household help. so I can't give that up.

I'm the same as you- I would literally be insane without cleaning help.

Although at this point if someone watches my kids I'm happy to clean

I'm with you! Cleaning help is the number one priority for me after actual necessities and would be the absolute last thing to go if I had to cut anything that wasn't essential.

My DH! He does all our household driving and carpooling. When he's out of town I am completely lost without him. He also does a lot of shopping since I have a harder time getting around. ( I wish I didn't need to rely on him though).
Otherwise I don't have any luxuries I could think of. To me papergoods is a necessity. I don't have cleaning help and I used to have one for years , but now that I've been without one for four years I do feel like it would be a luxury for me.

Landscaper to mow the lawn.
However, if I were really in financial distress, I would try to sell the house and move to a townhouse or condo without a lawn.

A good SUV with 4 wheel drive. I've had enough winter nightmares that this became a necessity. And we travel often so a good car with a smooth drive is essential.
