I don’t think you’ll find a nicegown to purchase for less than 6-7K.

Is it a custom in your family to purchase instead of rent? You can rent as a first time user - they make it custom for you, but you give it back to the rental after the wedding.

You can 1000% find gowns for under 7k. I bought my gorgeous ballgown on Long Island for about $1500. Spent another $200 to add sleeves and build up the neckline. I didn't go in with a specific budget in mind, but everything I tried on ended up being less than $2k.

Are you asking so you won't have sticker shock or because you want to know what others are spending. If it's the first, ask a bridal shop for their price range. If it's the second, then honestly, why does it matter? Spend according to your taste and budget. I assume no one's going to come up to your daughter and ask what the dress cost.

Prices have changed in 7 yrs since the last time I married a girl.
Each of them spent about $1200, back then.
I have the means, but hate being a show off, or spending where I don’t have to.
I rather put money towards a down payment on a house.

I know people who have purchased magnificent gowns for less than people here rent them for. Including, in one case, the daughter of a well-known Jewish philanthropist; just because you have the money doesn't mean you're going to throw it away.

It really depends on the details that the bride is looking for, but (leaving aside the cost of alterations), she should absolutely be able to get something for under $3000, and almost certainly under $2000 unless she wants a lot of beading or detail work.

Oh, and mazel tov. Wishing the kallah and her husband to be tremendous happiness.

I got married 3 years ago, and mine was 8 from Raquelle. They have great sales, though, so you might be able to catch one for 2!

Yup. And would do it again. Say I spend three to buy and sell it for 1500-or 2000- not worth the headache. And not saving money. I bought mine and guess what- havent managed to sell it anyway.

Bh- have the money and was happy to not have any pressures about it. Picked it up day before, gave back day after. And by the way- this is a “cheaper” second hand rental!

None of these are tsnius which means serious money to alter them. It means ordering extra fabric from the designer +beading and lace. I read somewhere that kleinfield alterations start at $500. It can be beautiful just be aware of the time, money and difficulty in doing MAJOR alterations to a gown.
