Roaches help!!

We've seen roaches in our basement. It's usually about once a week, but I'm not sure exactly. We've put out roach baits.
Do I call an exterminator? Or is there something else I should try first?
Also, any idea approximately how much exterminators charge for this kind of thing?

We had them in my building and at my work. They like warm damp places like under the sink. The roof and basement were in bad shape so I think that is what attracted them in the first place.

Try Advion, can purchase on Amazon. We were having roaches regularly, and this got rid of them in about a month. We purchased 4 tubes, and used maybe 1/2 of one. Gave it away to someone else who was having a problem.

We had a horrible roach problem in our apartment building and numerous visits from the exterminator really did not help. Someone on Imamother recommended Advion Roach Gel Bait and it really did the job. Ordered online(sorry I can't link but you should be able to google it), about $25 for 4 tubes (neighbors shared!), and the roaches are history! Hooray

I just checked and it was due to your advice to use Advion that my apartment is roach-free (pooh,pooh,pooh, as my Bubby would say).
