Yesh but if there was herd immunity, the 7% wouldn't get measles.
I am terrified now because I am not immune, and I'm pregnant. I basically put myself into solitary confinement, so yes. I quarantined myself thank you very much.
It's people like you who perpetuate these terrible outbreaks. Not us who do what we can.

Same sitch. Just found out I'm preg. Just found out I'm not immune.

I dont live in an outbreak area. I fully vax. My kids' school does not allow any non vaxed in without a valid medical exemption due to their own personal medical reason. I am so happy with that rule. They check yearly- not just at the few grades our state mandates.
And yes- I got my titers done a few years ago for a job and I was immune. I won't force my 3 year old to get a titer because anti vaxxers won't either just vaccinate, quarantine themselves and their whole family, or move to a deserted island.
Seriously. Go to some deserted island because I have friends and family members who are immunocompromised. If they catch measles they could die. They try to quarantine themselves but they have to go to their doctor/specialists to survive. You can get groceries delivered, Amazon prime or order from walmart everything you need. Your choice. You should deal with the consequences.

Kind of reminds me of about 150 years or so ago, many people were resistant to getting indoor plumbing because they didn't trust it.

Less than 150 years ago public health policy involved locating homes where someone had yellow fever, placing a net around that person's living space, spraying the entire home with pesticides to kill mosquitos and marking the home. Those who failed to comply were jailed or fined a lot of money. Today, we have no yellow fever, malaria, etc. because of the health policies of the time, although I believe that it did violate human rights today.

Vaxxers, you know you have a 1/33 chance of NOT being immune, and therefore functionally unvaccinated.

Are you positive that EVERYONE in your family is immune? (Proven by titer)

Do you quarantine yourselves and your families for 4 days every time you get a fever, in case it might be measles?

You could be perpetuating the outbreak.

Titers cannot prove that someone is not immune unless you have them done 6-8 weeks after you get the vaccine. That is why the CDC says that if you have the vaccine, you have the immunity. Stop trying to equate your irresponsible behavior with whatever vaxxers are doing.

Russians probably thought it's actually spy recorders for the KGB.

Jetblack why do you say there's no law to quarantine. If measles case is reported the doh will make sure that entire family quarantined till they get vaccine or till they are not contagious anymore or till everyone in family got it etc. The problem is they're are not going to doctor when they get the measles so its not reported, so they're on their own to do what they want. You can still get it till 21 days after exposure.

If I had a fever during an outbreak, I would not go out. I would wait to see if other symptoms arose. I would call the doctor or DOH for further advice. I would not be able to to babysit for Mr Pudge, I mean my grandson.

Why not? Don't you know, as par the very educated anti vaxers, that measles is actually beneficial for your grandchild?Or else he can get it as an adult!

Lol! Bh for vaccines!

Ask them if they intend to babysit for all the kids that catch it.

Everyone in an area with measles outbreak should quarantine as per local protocol. You are correct.

I was back there one summer. Even though the house where my mom lived has toilet already, they are still using the out house.
Even if they have cars, they still have horse & buggies & cows occupying the same roads as automobiles. They still have same babushkas with the long dresses & kerchief on the head selling their melons on the street under the sun all day. That's in Ukraine. Lot of places still living the old life although some parts are updated already.

A little off topic, but I live out of town, and I am considering going to flatbush for a few days. I am pregnant and not immune.
What's the measles situation there?

The upper class had plumbing, cars etc. But the others lived in poverty. That's what happens when there is communism...

The ones who were lucky to own businesses, lived comfortable but not like they would've been able to had they lived in a free country.

The owners were called "vise president" because the government was "president".

You realize that Measles isn’t the only virus in existence. Should everybody stay home when there’s a virus circulating at school to prevent it from spreading?

But measles is a particularly nasty virus with potential for life-long complications and a 3 week incubation period and is highly contagious through airborne particles.

The flu lasts a week, with the only potential long-term implication pneumonia--which is no joke. I had a colleague get it and has been out since early March, she ended up on a ventilator. I had the flu vaccine and missed a day in the office (was mostly over the weekend, I didn't know I had had the flu until it went through my whole house and most of my neighborhood)

Actually, if you have both MMRs you still have a 1/33 chance of NOT being immune, as per the CDC. (if you only have one MMR, you have a 1/31 chance of not being immune.)

Titers cannot prove LACK of immunity, but they CAN prove immunity.

I am not irresponsible, AND my kids did get MMR.

There’s no law for the unvaccinated to be quarantined. I believe you’re describing a family with a confirmed case of measles.
